REACT

A Syntactic Awareness Reading Strategy For Grades K-12. Syntactic Awareness also identified as linguistic awareness, is the ability to think about language rules and alter the morphologic of sentences in a language (Siu & Ho, 2020).

What is Syntactic Awareness?

We encourage to reading, and we teach how to read for understanding.  Our literacy program helps students mentally organize ideas to develop or enhance reading comprehension.

In many cases, the cornerstone for being able to understand or interpret texts is having sentence-level understanding. Reading with syntax is critical. The linguistic ability of syntax supports children's reading comprehension. The knowledge of syntax equips teachers with adequate knowledge of the language, language structure, coping with language changes, and instructing effectively. Let us help your organization achieve its greatest potential.

Understanding Reading

A student demonstrates comprehension if he or she is able to select and use strategies to understand words and text, be able to make and confirm inferences from what is read, including interpreting diagram, graphs and illustrations and more.

In order to succeed or master the Comprehension Component, the ultimate goal of reading, students must learn how to get the most out of what they read and be able to actively interpret as they read. If a student is unable to accurately interpret as he or she reads how can understanding develop? Can a student accurately respond to standard based questions?

Our React Method

1. We REACT

We use the students' assessment report to help guide  and support  schools' instruction. Our Reading Comprehension Technique, ReaCT, unifies the five components of reading.  We address and correct weaknesses and we enhance strengths.  This instructional method helps students understand how language functions.  This method demonstrates how to read for understanding. Students will be able to apply the reading technique and demonstrate whether he or she is comprehending, which is the ultimate goal!

2. Analyze Data

We identify the student’s literacy needs reading level which is determined through standardized testing for grades K-12. We devise instructional plans for different content areas and provide explicit standards-based instruction.

3. Progress Monitor

We know that students process information differently; therefore, we provide explicit differentiated instruction to improve student achievement for diverse learners.  Throughout the instructional process, we progress monitor how well a student is learning, understanding and applying the skills to the lessons provided by us. Additionally, progress monitoring provides you about the students' mastery of specific skills or concepts.

Student Achievement Institute believes students should not demonstrate deficiencies or test below grade level indefinitely.  It is our goal that all students become proficient at grade level, and we will continue to work towards this goal. We ReaCT!

I am certain that the tools she has learned from Cynthia will help her excel."
